Founder’s Log — A Better Way to Stay Connected
Inspired by an artist, teacher, and crazy Gemini.
Up to now, most of our communication has come through emails and the occasional social post. That’s about to change.
There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we build Behold, and we haven’t been sharing enough of it. This is a new stream — a simple way to stay current with what we’re actually working on, what’s changing, and what’s coming next.
Right now, it’s just us and a growing group of founding artists. That puts you in a unique position.
You’re not arriving at a finished platform. You’re inside something that’s being shaped in real time.
We’ll share updates as things move — what we’re building, what we’re seeing, and where things are headed. Some of it will be straightforward. Some of it will still be forming.
The goal is simple: less guessing, more clarity.
If you’re here, you should know what’s happening.
More soon.
Behold Marketplace — Artist Guide
It All Begins Here
We’ve opened the first stage of the Behold Marketplace.
You can now sell your original artwork directly through your Behold profile—building on the exposure and engagement already happening on the platform.
This first phase is U.S. artists selling to U.S. buyers only, allowing us to keep things simple and reliable as we expand.
1. Complete Your Artist Profile (Required)
(If you have previously completed your profile, please review it for any missing information.)
Before listing work for sale, make sure your profile is complete:
Name (as you want it shown publicly)
Profile image
Location (City, State, Country)
Short bio – your story
At least one contact link (website or social)
This builds trust and improves visibility.
2. Set Up Payments (Stripe)
To receive payment, you must complete Stripe onboarding.
Connect or create your Stripe account
Enter banking and tax information
Stripe handles secure payments and payouts
Important:
You cannot sell work until Stripe onboarding is complete.
3. Upload Your Artwork
Upload your work as usual in Behold, and mark as Available.
For marketplace readiness:
Use high-quality images
Provide accurate titles and descriptions
Clearly list medium, size, and materials
Think like a collector seeing your work for the first time.
4. Price Your Work (All-In Pricing)
Your price should include:
Your desired earnings (Tip: Don’t price your work too low. We are still in early stages and price will influence perceived value.)
Behold commission (15%)
Estimated shipping cost
Simple Example
If you want to earn: $1,000
Add 15% Behold commission → $150
Add estimated shipping → $100
Final listing price: $1,250
Shipping Pricing Guidance (Recommended)
To simplify, we suggest using 3 general shipping tiers:
Small works (paper, small canvas): ~$25–$50
Medium works (framed, mid-size canvas): ~$75–$150
Large works (oversized, heavy): ~$150–$300+
Use your own experience shipping similar work to refine these numbers.
Goal: keep pricing simple, realistic, and consistent.
5. Enable Marketplace Listing
Once priced:
Select the artwork
Enable “Show in Marketplace”
Submit for approval
Approved works will appear in the Behold Marketplace.
6. Shipping (Artist-Managed)
For this phase, artists handle all packing and shipping.
You are responsible for:
Packaging securely
Choosing the carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.)
Purchasing shipping + tracking
Sending directly to the buyer
Best Practices:
Use professional-grade packaging
Insure valuable works appropriately
Provide tracking promptly
Ship within ~3–5 business days
7. Payment Timing
Buyer completes purchase through Behold
Payment is processed via Stripe
Funds are released after confirmed delivery to the buyer.
This protects both sides:
Buyers receive what they expect
Artists operate within a trusted marketplace
(Exact timing follows Stripe’s payout schedule once the transaction is cleared.)
8. Returns (Overview)
Standard return window: 14 days from delivery
Artwork must be returned in original condition
If a return is approved, the transaction is reversed
Important:
Clear descriptions and accurate images help avoid returns.
